* Helms Heating & Air Conditioning donated heating and cooling system to woman in need in Charlotte through United Way member agency Love INC.

* United Way of Central Carolinas, Charlotte, raised 52 percent of annual campaign goal of $45.284 million as of Oct. 5; campaign ends Nov. 15.

* Dale Earnhardt Foundation, Moorseville, collected new and slightly used books from racing fans during Bank of America 500 race week for foundation’s Book Center benefiting women and children of Center of Hope home, Charlotte.

* Walk Now for Autism, fundraising event benefiting Autism Speaks, held Oct. 7 in Charlotte; event sponsored by Toy R Us, raised over $330,000.

* Rubicon Foundation, Durham, passed five-year advanced ruling period and now recognized as public charity.

* NC TRIAD affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure held “Komen on the Go” awareness events Oct. 10 at Winston-Salem State University and Oct. 12 at N.C. A&T University.

* HomeLife Communities, Raleigh, building “Miracle House” benefiting Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center; proceeds from sale of home to be donated to center; associated gala held Oct. 3 to raise funds.

* Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health and Education, Raleigh, received Eagle Award from North Carolina Alliance for Healthy Communities for vision, leadership in improving health outcomes in the state.

* Twin City Cyclones, professional hockey team, Winston-Salem, donating all proceeds from exhibition game to United Way of Forsyth County; game to be played Oct. 20 against Knoxville Ice Bears.

* Leadership Triangle seeking nominations for 2007 Goodmon Awards in following categories: individual, elected official, organization, partnership; nomination forms due Nov. 1.
