GREENSBORO, N.C. - Jehan Benton has been tapped as director of Guilford County's effort to end chronic homelessness within the next decade.

In her new role, Benton will oversee the implementation of the county's Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness, a collaborative effort of county agencies and leaders.

Benton comes to the effort through a contract with the Family Service of the Piedmont.  She previously served as the staff person at United Way of Greater Greensboro assigned to the Ten Year Plan.

The county also has received a $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro for the effort.

A 26-month grant of $644,000 from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services will fund a pilot project to establish housing support teams.
